For example, I haven't read of any attacks on ideas related to chemical bonding, or Newtonian physics, lately, from anyone, whatever their politics or religious persuasions. Not all Christians, or Republicans, can be classified fairly as against science.

However, it appears to be true that the Bush administration has ignored scientific findings for political reasons in several cases, and there are some other people who would probably be fairly called "anti-science."

As to the Edge page, it was interesting, and some of it makes a lot of sense. But to say that dualism has been scientifically disproved, as they do, is going too far.

Thanks.Martin LaBarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14629053725732957599noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9661811.post-8997861818720219552007-05-26T14:11:00.000-04:002007-05-26T14:11:00.000-04:00Couldn't agree more. Religious people are always made to look irrational while the myth of the impartial, objective scientist persists. True, many are, but far from all!

Thanks for the shot of adrenaline! And DO check out those sites.

All the BestRob Rumfelthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09953348774146336296noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9661811.post-48850794131133722312007-05-26T10:15:00.000-04:002007-05-26T10:15:00.000-04:00Thanks, Bob. But that's no excuse for Christians ignoring, or rejecting, part of God's revelation.Martin LaBarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14629053725732957599noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9661811.post-57639292032694821852007-05-26T01:03:00.000-04:002007-05-26T01:03:00.000-04:00That was definitely a strange post. Evidently because some people don't believe in evolution or don't want doctors using embryonic stem cells, all of science is under attack. And, of course, it's the dark forces of the religious right and their accomplices in the government who are responsible. I've rarely seen a better display of paranoia.

While you're at it, go over to www.edge.org and read the article there titled "Why Do Some People Resist Science?" Why should "Science" care? What's going on here?

Since when is science a cohesive world view that needs defending from people who may be resistant to it?

I guess there are fringes in all areas.Rob Rumfelthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09953348774146336296noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9661811.post-88362955490013788762007-05-24T08:46:00.000-04:002007-05-24T08:46:00.000-04:00As far as I can tell, the post is serious. As far as I can tell, the post is serious.Martin LaBarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14629053725732957599noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9661811.post-40867327609451746012007-05-24T01:29:00.000-04:002007-05-24T01:29:00.000-04:00PLEASE tell me that guys isn't serious with his an...PLEASE tell me that guys isn't serious with his anti-heliocentric post!
