Sunspots 338

Things I have recently spotted that may be of interest to someone else:
Science: Karl Zimmer has posted the winners of a science movie festival.

Politics: (or Philosophy) PETA plans to take Sea World to court, on the grounds that dolphins under their care, and displaying as an attraction for customers, are being held in slavery.

Christianity:  Russell Purvis challenges our thinking on how to explain and understand salvation.

I think it can be easily argued that thousands of children became interested in sea life because of the wonders of SeaWorld.

Captivity is not the same thing as slavery when applied to animals and fish ~ I haven't decided on birds.

  2. I believe in human supremacy, which should be careful, and does allow us to use other mammals (and birds) in various ways. This doesn't allow senseless cruelty to animals, which is spoken against in the Bible.

Not all the ways that we use animals are legitimate. I'm not sure how well dolphins are treated at Sea World. They are known to be highly intelligent, perhaps even having a language equivalent to ours.

    Thanks.
