Women of the Bible: Leah

Leah: Information about Leah is found in Genesis 29-35, and also in Genesis 46 and 49. Although Jacob favored Leah’s sister, Rachel (who was also a wife to Jacob.), the kings of Judah descended from Leah, not Rachel. Leah was an ancestor of Jesus, through Judah, one of Leah’s sons. The kings of Judah and the priests were both descendants of Leah. (The priests were part of the tribe of Levi. Levi was also Leah's son.)

Leah must have had a hard time. Jacob preferred Rachel. Rachel’s sons, not Leah’s, were Jacob’s favorites, one, Joseph, specially treated by his father, the other, Benjamin, the baby of the family.

A young lady who attends the church that we do is named Leah.
